Bartholomew Memorial Park
We’re lucky enough to live within walk­ing dis­tance of this pic­turesque park and win­ery. Sur­rounded by ripar­ian wood­land and flanked by gen­tle creeks on both sides, the park fea­tures many umbrella-topped pic­nic tables and a large grassy area for loung­ing and playing. 

Jack London State Park
Jack Lon­don State Park (along with nearby Annadel and Sug­ar­loaf Ridge State Parks) was closed in July of this year due to state bud­get cuts. The Val­ley of the Moon Nat­ural His­tory Asso­ci­a­tion has recently been granted man­age­ment of all 3 parks through the recent pas­sage of Assem­bly Bill 42.Sonoma Mag­a­zine cov­ered the bill pas­sage in their Octo­ber issue. Hope­fully the park will reopen soon.

Sonoma Overlook Trail
The best (if certainly not the easiest!) hikes to take with kids are those with a goal in mind. This community trail just north of the Sonoma Plaza winds a mile up through hillside meadows and oak-studded woodland to loop around a hilltop vantage point with views sweeping over the Sonoma Valley southward across the bay to Mt. Diablo in the southeast and the Marin coastal range in the southwest.
